Mount Catherine (Jebel Katharina)
Mount Catherine, the highest peak in Egypt at 2,629 meters, is located in the Sinai Peninsula. This mountain is a spiritual destination, close to the historic Saint Catherine’s Monastery.
Hiking Mount Catherine can take 6-8 hours, depending on the chosen path. The ascent is steep but rewarding, with the summit offering views of the Sinai desert and nearby Mount Sinai. The cooler climate at the peak makes it a perfect trek year-round, though warmer clothing is needed due to nighttime temperatures that can drop significantly.
