Mount Mousa Ali
Mousa Ali is a striking volcanic mountain located at the tri-border point of Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, marking the highest peak in Djibouti at 2,021 meters above sea level. As part of the geologically active East African Rift, Mousa Ali is a dormant stratovolcano with a wide caldera and rugged lava formations, bearing evidence of its volcanic past.
The mountain's slopes stretch across arid landscapes and support surprisingly diverse vegetation, while also serving as a cultural landmark for the local Afar communities. With its dramatic setting, geological significance, and symbolic location, Mousa Ali stands as a natural sentinel at the heart of the Horn of Africa.
